almost $9,000 by making false declarations to the Bermuda Monetary Authority.

Troy Durham was not required to plead to the six indictable offences when he appeared before Magistrate the Wor. John Judge.

Durham was charged with making false statements on March 20 on an application to obtain foreign currency for a trip abroad and with failing to surrender the currency to the bank between March 20 and April 24 after he didn't take the trip.

He was also charged with making a false declaration on March 24 indicating that he did not obtain foreign currency and, having obtained the currency for the trip and no longer requiring the funds for that purpose, he failed to surrender the money between March 24 and April 24.

Durham has also been accused of making a false statement on March 24 indicating he had not obtained foreign currency in excess of the amount allowed and, having obtained the funds and not used them, it is alleged he failed to surrender them to the bank or monetary authority.

Crown Counsel Mr. Stephen Harrison said the amount of currency involved was just under $9,000.

Mr. Judge released Durham on $5,000 bail and a like surety on the condition that he not purchase any more foreign currency. Durham is to return to court on June 25 at 10 a.m.
