Malaysia, placing first in a 400 metre individual medley event in St. Louis, Missouri.

Mullan, a member of the Dolphins Swim team in Bermuda and the Indianapolis University swim team, clipped a whopping seven seconds off her personal best time.

She clocked four minutes, 40.26 seconds, well under the Games qualifying mark of 4:44.10.

The Commonwealth Games are being held in Kuala Lumpur in September and Mullan joins Stephen Fahy, who has already qualified in the 100 metres freestyle, 100 fly and 200 medley, and Stephen Troake who has reached the mark in the 50 and 100 freestyle.

The main qualifying event for the Games will be the Bermuda National Championships this summer (a date has not yet been fixed) when fierce competition is expected to fill the remaining two spots for a relay team.

There will also be other opportunities to qualify at the Caribbean Championships and the CAC Games this summer.

Bermuda's national swim squad have already begun training at the BASA pool with national coach Gareth Davies.
