Grotto dispute goes to board
essential industries settlement board next week. The move follows an unsuccessful attempt by Labour Relations Officer Mr. Gladstone (Tab) Bassett to mediate in the dispute, which arose several weeks ago between the hotel and the BIU.
The hearing, which starts on Monday at the Cathedral Church Hall, will: Decide whether there is a collective agreement between the the hotel and the union If so, decide whether the hotel has committed an unfair industrial practice To grant a remedy, depending on its findings, and To settle the dispute.
Labour Minister the Hon Irving Pearman has appointed as board members Mr.
Michael Mello (chairman), Mr. Philip Perinchief and Mrs. Susan Wilson, plus two assessors. The hotel and the union can nominate an assessor each.
