Steven Geiger of New York City faces two charges of fraud, the amounts for which total more than $1.3 million.
He is described as the the head of exempted company, Hellenic Navigation Inc.
Hellenic Navigation was said to be owned by Mr. Geiger's mother and his deceased stepfather.
Mr. Geiger had been arrested by US marshalls some five weeks before he was extradited to Bermuda. He first appeared in court on March 25.
