was Friday sentenced to nine months in prison, suspended for 18 months.

Acting Magistrate the Wor. Edward Bailey told Ricky Roydell Simmons, 31, of Cobbs Hill Road, the Court was giving him a second chance.

Simmons denied burgling Crow's Nest cottage at Coral Beach on March 26, and stealing $95 from guest Sarah Lincoln.

Sgt. Earl Kirby conducted the prosecution.

Lincoln, from Maine, went out for dinner with a friend, and while they were eating, the hotel manager informed her hotel security had disturbed an intruder attempting to get into her room.

Lincoln said she returned to find her luggage had been forced open, and $15 in American money and $80 in Bermudian currency had been stolen from her wallet.

A security guard at the club, Anthony DeSilva, told the court he had begun his regular rounds that evening, and noticed an open window at the cottage. He went around the corner to check on the rest of the cottage, and saw a hooded figure standing in the bedroom. He thought it was a guest.

He went back later to shut the window and saw a person emerging from the window. He shouted at him and the man ran.

A couple of days later DeSilva was called to Police headquarters to identify the suspect in a Police lineup. DeSilva said he saw Simmons in the lineup and identified him.

Simmons, who was represented by Mr. Mark Pettingill at the trial last month, told the Court he had been home the night of the theft and was nowhere near Coral Beach.
