Openers set up youth team victory
Bermuda U-16s 146-3 A day after tailend pair Jim West and Mackie Crane led Bermuda to their first victory on tour in Canada, the opening batsmen laid the foundation for win number two in Toronto yesterday.
After Canada were dismissed for 144 in 42 overs, St. David's pair Chris Foggo and Landro Minors set the pace for the seven-wicket victory with an opening stand of 102.
Foggo was high man with 68 not out while Minors fell for 49. Kamen Tucker (4), Shannon Raynor (4) and captain Stephen Outerbridge (3 not out) also batted as Bermuda clinched victory in 32.1 overs.
"Chris and Landro batted with maturity beyond their years,'' said a delighted manager Randy Horton.
"The talent is here and the more we play the better I think we are going to get.'' This time Crane performed with the ball, taking three for 17 from nine tight overs while Dion Stovell had two for 20 off seven overs of medium pace and off-spinner Phillip Thomas two for 27 from seven.
The other Bermuda bowlers were Nasir Wade 0-28 (six overs), Jim West 1-34 (nine), Shannon Raynor 1-12 (three), Outerbridge 1-0 (two balls). Bermuda play the Canada under-16 team again today in a 45-over match.
