Richard Branco, 20, appeared before the Wor. John Judge with bare feet and a mud-stained shirt yesterday.

Prosecutor Sgt. Kenneth James said Police had been called to a dispute at Branco's family home on Parsons Lane at around 2.30 yesterday morning.

Branco had arrived home extremely intoxicated and began arguing with his brother about an incident involving his mother.

He chased his brother down the street, threatening to beat him with a stick.

When Police arrived Branco was so intoxicated they could not calm him down, the court heard. He swore at them and a violent struggle followed.

Branco admitted using offensive words and violently resisting arrest.

He told the court: "All I know is that if anything goes down with my mother when I'm away...I'm not taking any nonsense no more.

"If anything happens again the same thing's going to happen again. I don't care if I'm intoxicated or not.'' Mr. Judge told him: "I don't know whether you have had time to recover yourself or not. You look like death warmed up.

"I'll ignore what you've just said for the moment. It does seem to be rather out of character.'' He put Branco on $200 bail and adjourned the case for two weeks for a social inquiry report.
