Seven to 14-year-old children interested in writing can join the Inkpot writing club at the Youth Library on Church Street.

Programme founder and Mid-Ocean News reporter Jessie Moniz said their goal is to have fun with writing.

"A lot of younger kids need someone to encourage them.'' she said, noting that lots of red marks over a person's writing does not encourage emerging writers .

The group will meet Saturdays, starting September 30, from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Youth Library but Ms. Moniz hopes to expand group activities into field trips and exercises with guest writers.

Children can sign up at the Youth Library anytime during open hours and further questions can be directed to Marla Smith at the Youth Library at 295-0487 or Jessie Moniz at 295-5881.
