And the number of visitors overall last week shot up by 8.7 percent to 15,897.

The good news comes in Government figures released yesterday.

These show 9,358 people flew to the Island last week, compared to 9,151 for the same period in 1993. Those cruising in went up by 18.8 percent from 5,424 to 6,445.

For the year to date, air arrivals stand at 362,856 -- 1.4 percent up on the comparable 1993 total. The overall visitors' tally has risen to 530,681 -- 4.6 percent more than last year.

Last week Royal Majesty boasted an occupancy rate of 107.29 percent, the highest of any cruise ship.

Rates for the other vessels were: Song of America , 97.10; Dreamward , 92.75; Meridian , 88.39; Horizon , 85.75; and Royal Viking Sun , 81.22.
