A 56-year-old construction worker was yesterday listed in stable condition in a general ward at the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital following an industrial accident.

Police spokesman P.c. Gary Venning said the accident occurred at the construction site of the Salvation Army's new building on North Street in Pembroke at 4.30 p.m. on Tuesday.

The worker reportedly fell off a ladder on the second floor of the building and landed on his back.

He was rushed to hospital with back and head injuries where he was detained for observations.

P.c. Venning said the incident was under investigation by the Department of Health and Safety.
