Sandys Parish area to lock their vehicles during the night.

The advice came yesterday after they received two reports of cars being entered.

In both cases the ashtrays and their contents were removed.

Residents in the Happy Valley, Pembroke area were also advised to be on the alert against a would-be burglar who tried to break into the home of an elderly woman.

The Elizabeth Hills, Pembroke resident told Police she was awakened by a loud noise coming from her kitchen shortly after 4 a.m. yesterday.

On investigation, she saw a man trying to enter her house.

She shouted at him and he ran off.

Minutes later, Police saw a man inside the nearby Happy Valley Government Day Care Centre.

The man quickly made good his escape, but not before Police had obtained a good description of him.

A connection with the Elizabeth Hills attempted break-in has not been ruled out.

Meanwhile, Police are also investigating two separate break-ins.

A visiting couple staying at the Willowbank Hotel said they retired to bed and left their sliding glass door open on Monday night.

When they awoke the next morning, they discovered their wallet and purse had been removed. The wallet contained an undisclosed quantity of cash, credit cards, a driver's licence, and other personal items.

A thief or thieves also targetted a Westmount Lane, Warwick home on Tuesday.

The occupant returned home to discover that someone had gained entry to the house and stolen an Aiwa CD midi-system, a large black Nike sports bag and an undisclosed quantity of cash.
