The Council is looking for input into the problems of impaired driving, setting up a pedal cycle education scheme and unifying standards for driving test medical certificates.

And before it puts its recommendations to Transport Minister Ewart Brown it needs to get feedback from the public.

Road Safety Council chairman Delcina Bean-Burrows said: "Impaired driving has been a top priority this year in terms of strategy and we want to give the public every opportunity to respond. We do intend to submit proposals to the Minister and because it's of such national interest we can give people the opportunity to present their ideas.

"These are some outstanding areas where we feel we can move fairly quickly on.'' Suggestions on any of the three topics should be typed on A4 paper and submitted to the Road Safety Council at the Transport Control Department on North Street, Hamilton.

Submissions should be in no later than June 26.
