Bank of Bermuda employee Mr. Craig Tucker of Zuill's Park Road, Smith's, points out that it was not he but a defendant by the same name who appeared in Magistrates' Court this week on a drunken driving charge.

Herman Minors was going nowhere when Police found him asleep and drunk in his car.

Officers noticed Government employee Minors, 47, in a car on Great Bay Road in St. David's.

Prosecutor Sgt. Rex Osborne told Magistrates' Court: "The engine was running and the lights were on, but the defendant was fast asleep.

"They (the officers) made several attempts to wake him before he finally woke up.'' Minors of Cove Valley Close failed the alco-analyser, his reading being two and a half times over the legal limit.

He was fined $450 and disqualified from driving for 12 months.

In another alcohol-related case, Sgt. Osborne described how a Police officer was forced to take evasive action to avoid a motorcyclist driving on the wrong side of a bend.

The motorcyclist, 35-year-old Craig Tucker, was seen driving along Middle Road in Devonshire at 2.45 a.m. on May 21.

Sgt. Osborne said: "As the Police officer was approaching a right hand bend he was confronted by the defendant on the wrong side of the road.

"The officer had to take evasive action to avoid a collision with the defendant's motorcycle.'' He was taken to Hamilton Police Station where he gave a sample which was more than twice the legal limit.

Tucker was fined $450 and banned for 12 months.
