One of six Senators who is a candidate for the House of Assembly in the next general election, the Senate Opposition Leader said win or lose, he would not return.

"I know I will not be back in this place,'' the nine-year veteran said during the Motion to Adjourn.

As the Senate broke for the summer, Sen. Scott said he was a little tired.

"Emotionally, this is a draining forum. Physically, it's taxing.

"Others would say, `Well, you knew the job was dangerous when you took it.' I don't know that I appreciated the tremendous toll that public life will take on you.'' He said he made his remarks "not to engender sympathy,'' but for one moment to ask the public "to appreciate those who serve them''.

In closing, Sen. Scott said he wanted his epitaph to read: "He cared.''
