The snatch happened around 2 a.m. yesterday when the victim was talking to his friend on the corner of Court and Elliott Streets in Hamilton.

The friend asked if he could borrow some money and the man took out his cash, said Police spokesman Sgt. John Dale.

"As he took out his money to give him a couple of dollars his so-called friend snatched the bundle of $600 and ran off.'' Police are also investigating two break-ins in Pembroke on Tuesday after thieves got through glass louvred doors.

In one break-in, during the day at High Point Road, a thief threw a rock at the door to break it. Police believe someone may have heard breaking glass and could help enquiries.

The other break-in was discovered Tuesday night on Whitney Avenue. Thieves ransacked the home and stole a dill pickle jar containing about $50 in quarters.

Updated security measures paid off for a Union Street, Hamilton business when a thief broke in through a window. An alarm sounded and he ran off.
