That is the opinion of Bermudian Mrs. Fredrina Bean-Slaton who decided to open a boarding house in Atlanta exclusively for young Bermudian women at college there.

Described as a "housing facility providing safety and comfort for young women who choose to live in a family environment'', the house will be home to four young women when it opens its doors in January.

"These young females are ready to go to college but are not ready for that environment yet. They are in a safe environment but can still do what they would in college,'' she said.

Residents, who must pay for the privilege, are given a structured environment to work in.

"Often youngsters are given opportunities but they let them go. I want to become a role model for them,'' said Mrs. Bean-Slaton, adding Slaton's Manor will be accepting young men in the future.
