At 11 a.m. today, the BIU is supporting a march by the Bermuda Federation of Musicians and Variety Artistes to protest immigration policies they say are costing them jobs.

The musicians will gather at Union Square and march to the Immigration Department at the Government Administration Building.

On Friday, the BIU is urging the public to support a protest march against Government's new one percent hike in the hospital levy.

The 5.30 p.m. march from Union Square to the House of Assembly would be capped by presentation of a petition to Finance Minister the Hon. David Saul, the BIU said.

"The petition accuses the Government of taxing citizens' incomes (income tax) under the guise of hospital levy,'' and calls for the immediate removal of the increase which took effect on April 1, the statement said.
