Science boost for school
the Bank of Bermuda Foundation.
A grant from the foundation, the charity arm of the bank, has led to a new technical and scientific study centre at the Southampton school.
The new centre includes two laboratories, a preparation room and office, equipped with ten computers around the perimeter. There is space for 24 students in each section. A spokesman from the Bank of Bermuda Foundation said that they were very pleased to be able to help with funding the project.
Bermuda Institute's director of development, Frigga Simmons, spelled out the importance of the new facility.
"Bermuda Institute has always felt the importance of providing young people with a strong science curriculum,'' she said.
"Our new science research and resource centre brings to Bermuda Institute a wonderful environment in which our students can improve their understanding of scientific and technical concepts using the latest instructional materials.''
