John Arthur Soares of White Sands Road appeared in Magistrates' court yesterday charged with impaired driving and operation of an uninsured vehicle.

The court heard he was arrested following a traffic accident on Point Finger Road in Paget on the evening of August 6. An alco-analyser test was subsequently administered, revealing a blood alcohol level of 200 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood -- almost twice the legal limit under current law.

Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis imposed fines totalling $700, and disqualified Soares from driving for 12 months.
