New Jersey accountant Mr. Bill Courson, spearheading the campaign, claims Bermuda is defying international law on human rights.

The 40-year-old volunteer campaigner has written to the Governor, the Premier, and the UK Foreign Office.

Yesterday Community and Cultural Affairs Minister the Hon. Leonard Gibbons said he had been unaware of the campaign.

And he did not believe the issue had ever been brought before Bermuda's Human Rights Commission.

"It has not been an issue, but obviously if there is concern in the community we will certainly look at it.'' Mr. Gibbons said he did not know whether Bermuda was flouting any international law.
