Darrell Sinclair Symonds, of Paradise Lane, admitted the offence when he appeared in Magistrates' Court on Thursday.
Sgt. Kenrick James, prosecuting, told the court that on January 20, Police spotted Symonds turning left on to Paradise Lane. He tried to park the car three quarters of the way down the lane.
When Police asked him to stop he put the car into drive instead of reverse and almost knocked over a fence. When asked to step out of the car, Symonds could not stand.
A breath test revealed he had 200 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80 milligrammes.
Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis fined Symonds $450 and took him off the road for 12 months.
