successive nights -- has been scheduled to take place in the National Stadium next month, organisers announced.

The tattoo, which is being jointly organised by the Bermuda Regiment, the Ministry of Tourism and the Hamilton Rotary Club, will take place between November 3 and 5. Tickets go on sale on October 19.

A tattoo is a nighttime military pageant that has its origins in the retreat calls which summoned 16th-century soldiers back to their garrisons.

In addition to recreating this ceremony, the Bermuda Tattoo will also feature fireworks, children's rides and an assortment of Island pipe bands.

Pipe bands from Canada, a recreated regiment from the Boston area and world renowned bagpiper Mr. Willie Cochran are also slated to appear.

Said Lt. Col. Alan Rands: "This will be the first time since 1957 that a tattoo running for successive nights has been staged. We hope it will be a popular renascence and become an annual international festival.'' Mr. Randy Horton of the Tourism Department said the event would be heavily promoted both locally and overseas.

ST. GEORGE'S WOMAN MISSING POL St. George's woman missing The family of a 26-year-old St. George's woman is looking for help locating her.

Alexandra Louise Roberts of Queen Street is believed to have been working in St. George's until September 15, but she has not made contact with her family since then.

Ms Roberts is described as a white Bermudian, five feet, five inches tall, with a medium build, sandy brown hair, and blue eyes.

Police said her family is "very concerned for her safety''.
