Magistrates' Court has been sent to prison for 120 days.

Edward Smith, of no fixed abode, had been summoned by two court warrants to pay off the fines, imposed for theft and traffic offences.

But when Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis offered him a last chance, he said he was unable to pay.

Mr. Francis said: "Even if I give you a little time you are not going to be able to get this money. You are saying you have to do time. You do not see any light at the end of the tunnel.'' Smith told the court: "I do not have the money because I have not got a job.

I do not think I am going to have it.'' He was handcuffed and taken from the court.
