A Government spokesman last night confirmed tests of stool samples of epidemic victims identified a small round structured virus -- also called Norwalk-like viruses -- as the causative agent.

He added that no bacterial organisms, including E. coli, had been detected.

The US-based Centers for Disease Control is still carrying out tests on water samples.

More than 200 guests, staff and patrons fell ill as a result of the virus over the Valentine's Day weekend.
