Police look into Supt.'s role in alleged spitting incident
Police are investigating a complaint made against Supt. Larry Smith, a spokesman confirmed yesterday.
Insp. Roseanda Jones confirmed that the allegation related to an incident in a soccer match held at Prospect Field last Saturday between Somerset Extros and the Bermuda Fire Service.
She would not comment further, except to say that the complaint was being investigated by one of the force's highest-ranking officers.
Sources said that Supt. Smith was off-duty and playing for Somerset in the soccer match.
Mr. David Malpas of the Bermuda Fire Service made the complaint to Police, alleging that Supt. Smith spat at him, sources said.
Mr. Malpas refused to comment when contacted by The Royal Gazette .
There was no mention of the incident in a game report filed by referee Mr.
Coolridge Bell, a Bermuda Football Association official said.
