A family man with a "good employment history'' and a reputation for kindness, Edward Dill was charged with the importation of cocaine and the possession of cocaine with intent to supply after giving a second man $500 to bring the drugs from the US to Bermuda, where they were estimated to be worth $5,750.
The offences, which also involved a female courier, were said to have been committed on June 26, 1992.
Yesterday, Magistrate the Wor. Cheryl-Ann Mapp sentenced Dill to 18 months in jail for importation and 18 months for possession. He is to serve the sentences concurrently.
Before receiving his sentence, Dill said only that he was innocent.
