"some of the more important matters'', the National Liberal Party said yesterday.

NLP Leader Mr. Gilbert Darrell said he hoped the end to "unnecessary discipline applied to every motion'' would be one of the changes resulting from the national election.

"The three-line whip is now passe,'' he said in a news release. "Leaders will have to find another way to have their egos stroked.'' The NLP also reaffirmed its support for elected parish councils.

In another news release, NLP chairman Mr. Geoff Parker repeated his call for the resignation of hotelier and United Bermuda Party candidate Mr. David Dodwell from the Premier's Commission on Competitiveness.

Mr. Parker stressed that he told The Royal Gazette last week that Mr. Dodwell might be deputy chairman of the Commission, but he did not know what his position was.

Mr. Dodwell is a member of the planning committee of the Commission's tourism wing. He accused Mr. Parker of getting his facts wrong.

The position was not important, Mr. Parker said. It was that a politician was now sitting on a non-political body.

Mr. Parker also maintained he earlier discussed with Mr. Dodwell whether he could sit on the Commission. He said Mr. Dodwell said political representation was not acceptable.

Mr. Dodwell has denied knowledge of Mr. Parker's desire to sit on the Commission.
