24 hours after complaining to The Royal Gazette of bully boy tactics and unfair dismissals by management.

But yesterday management denied links between Mr. Reid Trott's dismissal and the newspaper interview.

Said Mr. Dennis Tucker, manager and vice-president of the hotel: "I can confirm Mr. Trott has been dismissed. It has nothing to do, however, with speaking to the Press.'' But Mr. Tucker, also president of the Hotel Employers of Bermuda, would not give any reason for the dismissal.

He said it was for the managing director Mr. David Boyd, who was off the Island yesterday, to give an explanation.

Mr. Trott's firing was raised in the House of Assembly yesterday by Mr.

Ottiwell Simmons, the Bermuda Industrial Union president.

He mentioned it while accusing Government and hoteliers of launching a conspiracy against the working class.

Afterwards Mr. Simmons said he would be investigating Mr. Trott's dismissal.

"It appears he was dismissed for speaking to a newspaper. Yesterday he had a job, today he doesn't.'' Mr. Trott had told The Royal Gazette nine employees, mainly cooks, had been laid off at Sonesta without notice.

He also accused management of intimidating workers, and withholding his pay cheque.

The allegations, however, were strongly rebutted by Mr. Boyd.

He admitted four workers had been made redundant, but had been offered different jobs next year.
