fined $300 in Magistrates' Court this week.

Orrene Laverne Mallory, 22, of Swan's Bay Hill, pleaded guilty on Magistrates' Court to unlawfully assaulting Geraldine Watson, doing her bodily harm.

Mallory also admitted wilfully and unlawfully destroying Watson's blouse to an amount exceeding $60.

Watson was at a wedding reception at Warwick Workmen's Club around 9 p.m. on May 15 when a fight broke out between the two women, said Insp. Peter Duffy, prosecuting.

Mallory punched Watson about the face and head and as Watson fell to the ground she continued to punch her in the face and stomach.

During the fight, Mallory also practically ripped Watson's blouse off, and she had to be pulled off Watson, Insp. Duffy said.

Watson was taken to the emergency department of King Edward VII Memorial Hospital. She had slight bruising to her stomach.

Insp. Duffy said Mallory later told Police she assaulted Watson because she called her a "bitch''.

Mallory, who had no previous convictions, told Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis: "I did not know the girl was pregnant. I was provoked when she called me a f---ing bitch''.

When asked why Watson called her that, Mallory said: "I was with my family and she assumed I was talking about her because we had a fight before. I went over to her to explain that I was not talking about her.

"She said she did not want to hear anything and cursed at me.'' Mallory added Watson also threw some punches during the fight.

"Those lot pulled me off when her shirt came off,'' she said. "And that's when I left her alone.'' But Mr. Francis said: "Whether she was pregnant or not, the extent of your attack seems to be rather extensive''.

He fined Mallory $200 for assaulting Watson and $100 for destroying her blouse. Compensation of $65 is to come out of the latter fine.
