Cops watched as pair fell off bike
Magistrates' Court facing three charges.
Shannon Vance Gilbert, of Stowe Court, Pembroke, pleaded guilty to speeding at 78 kph, having no valid driver's licence and failing to give Police a breath test.
Sgt. Phil Taylor, prosecuting, said on June 14 this year Police radar checks clocked Gilbert's motorbike at 78 kph.
He said Police caught up with Gilbert and saw him travel around a bend on the wrong side of the road.
"The Police vehicle pulled up alongside the cycle which slowed down and speeded up. The rider suddenly accelerated and the pillion passenger fell off and then the rider also fell off,'' added Sgt. Taylor.
Senior Magistrate Will Francis fined Gilbert $400 for refusing a breath test and banned him from driving all vehicles for 12 months.
Gilbert was also fined $100 for having no licence and $450 for the speeding offence. He was also banned from driving all vehicles for two years for speeding -- which will run concurrently with the one-year ban.
