Race for survival begins
Division will be the main point of focus when league action resumes tomorrow after the Christmas break.
Leaders Somerset travel the length of the Island to meet struggling St.
George's who are playing their first home match since the abandoned match with Hamilton Parish, which eventually resulted in Parish being awarded the points.
The Trojans beat promoted St. George's 1-0 and they will also use this match to get a feel for the open spaces of Wellington Oval in time for next week's FA Cup match against the same opponents.
With Hamilton Parish now level with them on points at the bottom St. George's can ill-afford to continue dropping points.
Somerset could actually increase their two-point lead at the top as second and third-placed Devonshire Colts and PHC meet at PHC Stadium, while North Village, fourth, have a chance to close the gap when they travel to St.
David's to meet improving Boulevard who ended their first half of the season with a surprise 3-2 win over Devonshire Colts.
The other two matches see Dandy Town hosting Hamilton Parish at St. John's field while St. David's, the other team in what could be a three-team relegation battle, travel to Southampton Oval to take on Hotels.
In the Second Division, leaders Vasco meet Paget at St. John's field with second-placed Southampton Rangers away to third-placed Wolves at Devonshire Rec. field in the division's top match.
Fourth-placed Prospect are at home to Social Club (fifth) at Police field while there is a double-header at White Hill field where Port Royal play Devonshire Cougars at 1.00 and Somerset Eagles take on BAA at 3.00.
BAA field will be ready for action this weekend but the Second Division side will have to wait until next Wednesday before playing their first match on the newly-laid surface.
However, their Alliance and Commercial division teams will be playing there today as a full slate of Saturday matches are also scheduled.
