Finnigan's powerhouse of sales
customers from large supermarkets, convenience stores, as well as, boutiques catering to the tourist trade.
Mark Finnigan, the manager of four years, said: "DSD is the powerhouse of sales merchandising in Bermuda. It takes a special team to deliver the expectation of our customers and vendors and I feel really lucky that we have such a team. Our success comes from real dedication to meeting customer needs.'' BGA's DSD represent the best brands in the business including Cadbury, McVities, Purina, Wrigley as well as the whole of the Gillette portfolio.
Duracell is a recent addition to our business and we are pleased to represent the best battery in the world.
Mr. Finnigan advises that the team approach at BGA is very effective.
"Our people are very friendly, we have a great working environment, the best! Clarice Bowen has worked with BGA for over thirty years. We are a work family and everybody cares.'' Supervisor of DSD, Darlene Simons, works alongside Mr. Finnigan.
"I am a triangular organiser as I liaise with sales, the warehouse and the customers. Communication plays a key role in my job.'' She has been with BGA four years and said that she enjoys the challenges of her job and meeting people.
"I make sure that I get positive results at the end of the day. I ensure that the daily challenges of the job are met.'' Kathy Basden, one of the sales merchandisers who has only been with the company for seven months, says she finds BGA a comfortable place to work even though the pace is hectic.
"I relate well to all the senior managers and I look forward to coming into work each day.
Mr. Finnigan remarked: "Customers like dealing with Kathy as she aims to please! She wants to satisfy the customer and takes a lot of pride in her work.'' Wornell Steede, also a sales merchandiser, said he likes the challenges of his job.
"I am meeting weekly demands and I always deliver to my customers. If I get a monkey on my back I shake him off onto Mark. Then Darlene sends it to the aquarium,'' he said with laughter.
Mr. Steed says he respects and admires his bosses and that both Mr. Finnigan and Ms Simons look out for their employees.
"Ultimately our customers must be satisfied. If I have a problem they are always there and together we arrive at a resolution right then.'' Mr. Finnigan concluded the group interview by saying: "The essential thing about DSD is that it's extremely competitive and we work very hard to stay ahead of the game.
It is a happy work gang in BGA's warehouse where millions of dollars of stock is managed daily.
