The Bermuda Weather Service has upgraded the storm as a "potential threat'' and will be monitoring her progress intently today as she swings by to the northwest.

It is expected that the closest it will come is 248 nautical miles to the northwest on Tuesday.

But, nonetheless, Danielle will still cause winds of up to 30 knots, bringing in a small craft warning, and an increased swell on the coast, along with showery conditions.

At present the storm is around 500 nautical miles west- southwest of Bermuda moving at a speed of nine knots, but is expected to swing around to head towards the northeast today.

Danielle has winds recorded at 65 knots with gusts up to 80 knots.

Meteorologists expect it to follow a north-eastern course and to be far enough away for its impact to be offshore.
