Executive director Derrick Binns told The Royal Gazette the drug-fighting umbrella group had received a draft from five American University officials who last visited the Island in January and held discussions with various members of the judiciary.

And while explaining that it was premature to discuss the plan which would allow a specialised court to deal with drug offenders, Dr. Binns said: "We are reviewing that draft. Once that is finished, we should have a final product.'' But due to the complexity of the issue and the number of people involved, he added that it was hard to say when the reviewing will be finished.

"There are many parties involved,'' Dr. Binns said. "It is too early to say when the final product will be completed. But it is one of our major priorities.

"It is still something that we are pressing on with.'' However, he said when the NDC has completed its revisions, they will make recommendations to Government.

"Then it is up to Government,'' he added.
