Mike Cash cruised to victory over the three quarter of a mile ocean course in 20 minutes and 52 seconds, 32 seconds ahead of Mancell.

While the South Shore was tossed around by 35-knot winds, the North Shore remained calm except for the wake of Mancell, who led home Jan Vanderschalk, Tab Froud and Geoffrey Gardner by 11, 15 and 16 seconds, respectively.

The closest female, Clare Morrall, was more than two minutes behind.

SOCCER SOC Two wins, one draw and a loss marked Bermuda Police Soccer Section's first four games in the "Stop the Violence'' soccer tournament in Washington, DC.

Bermuda are one of 50 police departments joining several youth groups in the charity tournament, hosted by the US Secret Service.

Bermuda opened with a 5-1 drubbing of Mexico then had a loss and a draw before edging Russia, the defending champions, 1-0. Jerome Laws scored the only goal of the match.

Laws also had two goals against Mexico, with Robert Goodchild, Lawrence Smith and Trevor Dickinson all scoring once.
