Rafter turns his attention to golf
has sidelined him from the ATP Tour, turns his attention to another sport this week.
The 27-year-old Australian, who owns a home on the Island, will play in the week-long Founders Trophy golf tournament at Mid Ocean Club, which boasts a field of almost 150.
Rafter, a two-time US Open winner, teams up with Bermudian Kevin Petty in the 72-hole, better-ball event.
Another celebrity in the field is TV golf commentator Ben Wright, who like Rafter is a regular visitor to Bermuda.
Wright disappeared from the airwaves a few years ago after controversial on-air comments about women on the LPGA Tour led to a falling out with the CBS network. But since last year he has made occasional appearances on other TV stations.
Wright will partner Bermudian Ed Rego.
Defending their net title will be Bermuda's Robert Vallis and Jack White from Florida, while last year's gross winners Michael Darling and John Picket of New York are also in the field.
