Mr. Wade's election cry comes on the heels of the Progressive Labour Party's annual Delegates' Conference.

He described the conference at the party's Alaska Hall headquarters as "very successful and upbeat''.

"There was a good attendance and we left on a high note,'' he said.

The conference was opened last November, but was suspended because the party believed a general election was imminent.

To thunderous applause Mr. Wade said: "The PLP is the party of change, ready to take over the reins of power and lead the party out of recession.'' Mr. Wade and deputy leader Mr. Walter Roberts were re-elected unopposed to lead the party into the next election.

"I stand on my record and hope and trust you will see fit to give me your support once again,'' said Mr. Wade.

Yesterday Mr. Wade said he was determined to keep the PLP on an election footing throughout the year.

"We will be very active, and be holding a series of public meetings,'' said Mr. Wade.

Two of the meetings will be on Finance Minister the Hon. David Saul's February budget, and the Judge Stephen Tumim report.

Mr. Wade said he was very happy with the PLP's election team, and state of readiness.

The party was determined not to be caught napping by a snap pre-Budget election, said Mr. Wade.
