That is the total number of party members who signed up by last Sunday's deadline for participation in the vote to replace House Speaker the Hon. David Wilkinson, who will not run in the next general election.

The 414 members of the Paget West branch represent just over one third of the constituency's more than 1,200 voters.

The number is considered to be low by party officials and the three candidates, Mr. Tim Smith, Mr. Mark Selley, and Mr. Terry West.

Voting takes place at St. Paul's Christian Education Centre between 4 and 8 p.m.
