Mark North, 27, became the Island's fourth fatality of 1998 after his motorcycle apparently skidded into the path of an oncoming van at around 9.30 p.m. on Thursday night.

He died hours later in King Edward VII Memorial Hospital's Intensive Care Unit following the accident on Middle Road in Southampton.
