Sgt. Ken James, prosecuting, said on July 8 Police responded to an alarm at Port Royal Gardens. They were met at the door by Walikran who told them he was working there. Later he told the truth.

He said he raised the fly screen on the bathroom window and climbed in. He wanted alcohol. He said he heard Police arrive and gave himself up. "Sir I've been drunk for the past month,'' said a visibly shaking Walikran. "I really need help. I want a chance.'' "Was it a noisy alarm?'' asked Mr Francis. "Alarms usually make noise so that intruders will leave.'' "In my condition, your honour, I was so hot I wasn't bothered,'' said Walikran. "In the jail cell I decided I needed help. I don't want to go jail no more.'' Mr. Francis thanked Walikran for his frank admissions and sent him to prison for nine months.
