Cup, to be decided in a series of events during the visit of HMS Boxer between November 8-10.

The cup was presented in 1923 by Lt. Gen. Sir John Asser, originally to encourage sporting competition between Naval and Military units, but later became a sports meeting held over several days between visiting Royal Naval teams and Police.

The trophy has been won almost every year since 1963 by Police, although in 1987 they were defeated by a team from the Royal Naval Dartmouth Squadron.

The ground rules, agreed in 1972 by the RNO (Resident Naval Officer) and the Commissioner of Police of the day, state that the holders of the cup must choose nine sports from which the challengers may select seven in which to compete.

Following are the sports and schedule for this year's event: Friday, November 8: Golf (Port Royal, 8.28 a.m.); Soccer (Police Field, 3.00 p.m.); Hockey (Saltus Grammar Field, 3.00 p.m.).

Saturday, November 9: Running -- five miles -- (Somerset Police Club, 10.00 a.m.); Tennis (Police Club, 12.00 p.m.); Rugby (Malabar, 3.00 p.m.).

Sunday, November 10: Tug-O-War (National Sports Club, 4.15 p.m.) The Tug-O-War will take place during the half-time interval of a World Rugby Classic game.

The last Commodores Cup challenge came from HMS Boxer in 1993.
