Keeping your memories of the Millennium

Welcoming a new millennium is a once in a lifetime opportunity and there are many who will want a little keep-sake to mark the occasion.

Here are a few things you will likely come in contact with over the next few hours that you might want to keep as a millennium memento: The last newspapers of the 20th century; Photographs of your New Year's celebrations -- remember black and white photos age better than colour; Video tape the millennium coverage on television so that you will have a record of the various New Year's celebrations around the world; The tickets or invitation to a New Year's Eve soiree; A souvenir programme from a concert or show; Anything with the date December 31, 1999 on it -- menus, napkins or matches; The champagne glasses you used to toast in the new millennium; and The cork from the bottle of champagne you consumed.
