Town still chasing first league victory
tonight when they take on Devonshire Cougars at Devonshire Rec. (9.00 p.m.).
Andrew Bascome's talented but under-achieving Hornets have found goals as well as points hard to come by lately, as have Cougars.
Town have netted just two goals in their opening three league games, while Heys Wolffe's strike in Cougars' 1-0 win at Southampton Rangers two weeks ago was his side's first league goal of the season.
The triumphant trip to Southampton Oval was Cougars' last outing, as they had last weekend off since they were not involved in the opening bout of FA Cup first-round matches.
Town drew 1-1 at Somerset Trojans in their last league match and could only manage the same scoreline against First Division Paget in their cup tie at St.
John's Field last week.
In tonight's opener at 7.00 p.m., Rude Girls play Devonshire Stars in a Women's Division match.
The national under-17 squad resumed training this week in preparation for their World Cup qualifying games at the end of November.
The youngsters are under the tutelage of Kenny Thompson and will train today at Saltus, starting at 5.00 p.m. Next week the squad will be pared down to its travelling number, and training will move to the National Centre.
On Tuesday the under-17s will meet visiting Canadian private School, Ridley College, in a game at the National Centre with a 6.30 p.m. kick-off.
The youth team's World Cup campaign begins in the Cayman Islands with games against the host nation, USVI and Cuba.
Saltus senior football team leave this weekend for their annual six-day tour of Canada, where they will play Toronto area private schools Ridley (just prior to Ridley coming to Bermuda), Appleby College, Crescent College, and Trinity College.
