The man was injured while raising some steel steps at a Mills Creek construction site in Pembroke.

He was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, but released after a check-up.

The man, who has not been named, is understood to be employed by building company Swan Bros.

It is believed the firm are sub-contracted to carry out work at the site.

The accident occurred just before 8 a.m., and health and safety inspector were alerted.

Police spokeswoman Sgt. Andrea Browne said the circumstances surrounding the incident were unclear.
