The cyclists have also reportedly thrown stones at skaters' parents and subjected them to abuse.

"The behaviour has been quite disgraceful. We do not allow cyclists in the car park at any time,'' said Corporation of Hamilton secretary Roger Sherratt.

Mr. Sherratt said the Corporation had received a lot of complaints about pedal cyclists at Bull's Head on Sundays.

"We've had reports that some of the cyclists have been terrorising young skaters, running straight at them and going round them.

"We've also had reports of pedal cyclists going round the car park chasing each other and when the security guard approaches them, they have been very abusive.

"This usually occurs after 3.30 p.m. We have now asked Police to have patrols visit the area and we want to put out a public warning that it's against the law riding pedal or motor cyclists in the car park.

"We do, however, allow roller bladers on Sundays as part of organised activities.'' He added: "The Corporation has not received any complaints about motorcyclists.'' Mr. Sherratt said the Corporation also had some concerns about roller bladers riding without safety equipment.

"The In-Line Skating Association has sent out a newsletter, saying anyone skating at Bull's Head from April 1 must wear safety equipment.

"The organisers have been providing free safety equipment and the skaters are asked not to use the ramps.'' He added: "We would like to remind anyone who takes children there they are using the car park at their own risk and are asked to sign a waiver when they skate there.

"We've had complaints that some parents are using roller blading as a babysitting service and they somehow expect the association to look after the youngsters.'' CRIME CRM
