Tourism figures increase

There was a 7.3 percent increase in air arrivals and a nearly 40 percent increase in cruise arrivals compared to November 1992, statistics for the month showed.

US and British visitor arrivals were up in November by 10.4 percent and 4.9 percent.

But visitors from Canada and Europe were down, by 1.6 percent and nearly one quarter at 24 percent.

The average length of stay for all licensed properties fell from 5.2 nights in November 1992 to 5 nights.

For the year to date, air arrivals were up 9.8 percent, to 394,019. Cruise arrivals were up by 17.5 percent to 153,944. There were two calls in November with passengers totalling 1,809, which is 37 percent more than the same number of calls brought in 1992.

Total arrivals are up 11.9 percent to 548,710 for the years.
