Robert Lennox, 48, will take over the reins at the Island private school on April 1.

Chairman of Warwick Academy's board of governors, Sen. Walwyn Hughes, said: "He is a relatively young man and he will bring a lot of drive and energy and a good reputation in information technology.'' Mr. Lennox currently heads up the 1,300-pupil Bulmershe comprehensive school in Reading, Berkshire. Sen. Hughes said the school enjoys a high degree of autonomy, although a state school, and Mr. Lennox had proven management skills.

He added that Mr. Lennox had forged strong links with the private sector and raised a lot of cash for his school, which had won several awards for its expertise in computer teaching.
