Folk festival launched

Downes, formerly of the Arizona Smoke Review, last played in Bermuda some 15 years ago.

Now a popular solo artists, he is stopping in Bermuda on his way back to the United Kingdom following his fifth US tour.

Opening for Downes is local club member Dianne Macniel, who has performed locally on several occasions.

Downes is the first of five entertainers being brought in by the Folk Club as part of its plan to raise its local profile.

Other performers slated to appear in local venues include the ever-popular Fairport Convention and Anni Clark.

Tickets for tomorrow night's performance are $10 for members and $15 for non-members and are available at the Music Box or at the door. Doors open at 8 p.m.
