days of business meetings and receptions for local clients in Bermuda this week.

The company supplies financial news services to 21 businesses on the Island, including the three banks, insurance firms and several exempted companies.

Reuter also provides news and photographic services to The Royal Gazette and Mid-Ocean News newspapers.

The company has a communications centre in Par-la-Ville Road, Hamilton, where satellite signals are received and disseminated locally by a staff of three.

Mr. Gladwyn Bean, general manager of Reuters Bermuda, said top executives with Reuter -- only the parent company's name does not contain an S on the end -- came to Bermuda every year to meet clients.

"We had a cocktail party at Waterloo House for about 90 people and held business meetings with clients to discuss our service,'' he said.

The party of seven Reuter representatives on the Island this year included Mr.

William O'Shea, the executive vice president of Reuters North America, and Mr.

Ken Byrne, a district vice president who has responsibility for Bermuda.
