Driving with more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in his blood cost a Sandys man $400 and 12 months off the road.

James Burrell Rawlins, 48, of Heathcote Hill, admitted the offence which occurred on October 23.

Sgt. Earl Kirby, prosecuting, told the court that Police stopped Rawlins after they saw him drifting in his lane and braking unevenly.

After he was stopped, he appeared to be fumbling for his licence in his wallet, Sgt. Kirby said.

Rawlins failed the breathalyser test, registering the maximum 200 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80.
